I am not in the forums that often, but when I am, I am always surprised at how negative the sellers are in here for lack of sales, setting prices, etc. and the blame put on Epla.
This is my opinion, you can choose to agree or disagree with me, but I hope you see this from my point of view:
Epla.no is a place where you can set up your own online store and sell your goods. It is actually very inexpensive: For example: putting 100 products up is only 250kr. And that includes a payment solution (paypal) When you sell, you pay a small percentage to epla which is fair - think about the marketing they do and how well-known epla is for handmade goods. And YOU are a part of this! paypal fees: even if you have a terminal, you pay fees. If you set up your own webstore, you do have credit card fees- fact of life, and no getting around that.
Setting prices: there is a market for everything - just like buying something from H&M or from a luxury boutique. What is fun about Epla is that there is something for everyone here. Concentrate on your store, and not so much what other people are doing.
How YOU market your items is up to you. Anyone can buy/make items to sell, but it is the selling that is the hardest part.
And if it doesn't sell, make something else. Maybe it's not what the market wants at this time.
I have items that do well in Oslo and other items that sell more in North Norway.
But don't blame Epla if your items don't sell.
You cannot expect Epla to do most of YOUR work.
Epla is profiled in various media through Allers which is great because it means more people are clicking on Epla and browsing what is available.
They have been on TV promoting Epla as well - which is great.
It is you as a seller that is responsible for your own marketing and selling, not Epla. It is hard work.
Siw, Torunn and Ida have done a great job.
I know there is a number of emails they go through every week answering people's questions and dealing with customer service issues.
Think about the facebook updates, blog updates, friday favorites, seller of the week/month, etc. etc.
There is a lot of coordination going on behind the scenes that we don't always hear about, but they are working hard.
Thank you Siw, Torunn and Ida for your hard work! Thank you for the opportunities you have given us to grow our businesses! and Thank you for Epla.no which gives us a venue to sell our items! (which is much better then qxl and finn!)
