Lerret - Storkobbe - Arktisk Dyreliv - Panoramautsikt
Taken on Spitsbergen, Svalbard in August 2011. Taken during a glaciology field camp, the subject of the photo is a bearded seal swimming in Grønnfjorden, which is the same fjord where the Russian settlement of Barentsburg can be found.
This young bearded seal visited our camp on several occasions during the week we were camped. He was very curious and would often pop his head above the surface to observe us. After several unsuccessful attempts and some bad light conditions, I was finally quick enough to get this shot in the midnight sun towards the end of the week.
Taken with a Canon 5d MkII and 100-400 F4.5-5.6 L lens.
Printed on bright white tightweave 380gsm cotton canvas with archival quality inks. Hand stretched over 38mm pine stretcher bars. Research suggests the canvas will last up to 85 years without colour fading.
Obviously the canvas will not be watermarked.
